The Smartest Investment Book You’ll Ever Read: The Simple, Stress-Free Way to Reach Your Investment Goals
by Daniel R. Solin
Author, Daniel Solin, is a leading securities arbitration attorney and registered investment advisor. Mr. Solin argues that popular Wall Street firms’ promotion of market diversification is little more than hype and, more often than not, leads to investor disappointment. Approximately 150 pages, this book is not what you’d expect from someone as accomplished as its author. Language is non-complex and, if you’re a slow-medium reader like me, can be finished in 2-3 days’ spare time.
Economics in One Lesson: The Shortest and Surest Way to Understand Basic Economics
by Henry Hazlitt
An extremely simple read for those of us who are interested in how “financial stuff works” but can’t follow the high-brow jargon that often accompanies such explanations. The author was heralded by a colleague as “…one of the few economists in human history that could really write”. Mr. Hazlitt sheds light on how popular, good-sounding economic policies actually affect all people, not just the few that such policies are intended to benefit. My goal is to read this book once a year.
